Galerie Claire Gastaud is pleased to present from 14 January 2022 to 26 February 2023 as part of its first solo exhibition at the gallery, 37 rue Chapon, Paris.

“Natacha Lesueur’s images unfold in both volume and two dimensions. In his series Humeurs de fées (2020), drawn photographs perfectly fit with a fountain inspired by the rococo wigs and factories of the 17th century gardens. The artist, not without humor, mixes references from all eras and elements of various origins to play similarities while creating the gap. The permanence of forms through their mutation seems to be the recurrent question of Natacha Lesueur’s work. Her female portraits, especially of brides and fairies, display the construction of a complex identity through editing, collages that allow her to return by drawing on photographs. Female figures between the ghost and the cliché that a side step always makes ironic or squeaky.”
Henri Guette

A major and historical figure in plastic photography, Natacha Lesueur, born in 1971, graduated from Villa Arson in Nice, won the Ricard Foundation Prize in 2000 and was a resident of Villa Medici in Rome in 2002 and 2003. Natacha Lesueur has established herself on the French and international art scene in recent decades. In 2011, MAMCO in Geneva dedicated a first retrospective exhibition «I am born etc.» and a second major retrospective exhibition «Comme un chien qui danse» was held at the Villa Medici in 2021.
